How it works
How do you add English subtitles to a Tagalog video?
To translate a Tagalog video to English, drop it on this page. The Tagalog speech is transcribed and translated line by line, and the English is laid out as subtitles at the moments the words are said. Download the SRT to watch with or to upload.

Drop in the video
MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM: a vlog, a family video, a webinar or a news clip. Only the sound is read.
- 2
English subtitles are made
Tagalog is transcribed and translated, through the first 30 minutes of the video.
- 3
Download SRT or VTT
Original gives Tagalog subtitles on the same timing.
Do English subtitles take less room than Tagalog?
Generally. Tagalog ran about a fifth longer than English in our English to Tagalog test, so English subtitles of the same speech tend to be shorter. They are laid out after translating, 2 lines at most of about 42 characters, each long enough to read.
Every subtitle stays up for 1 to 7 seconds and starts with its spoken words, so fast Tagalog speech still gets readable English.
What happens to English words spoken in Tagalog?
They come through as English. The Tagalog transcript usually writes English words in English spelling (Schengen Visa, Milky Way), and the translation even restores names the Tagalog had translated: “Anim na Bandila St. Louis” came back as “Six Flags St. Louis”.
- Ang bus ay patungo noon sa Anim na Bandila St. Louis sa Missouri…
- English subtitleThe bus was then heading to Six Flags St. Louis in Missouri…
- …105 milya kada oras (165 km/h)…
- English subtitle…105 miles per hour (165 km/h)…
- Ninanais ng kompanya na palawakin ang mga pinagmumulan ng kita nito…
- English subtitleThe company wants to expand its revenue sources…

How well is Tagalog speech turned into English?
Well: Tagalog speech came out good in English in our test, with occasional slips in names and rarer words at the transcription step. Read the English with the video once, especially lines about when something happened, which Tagalog expresses differently from English.
What should you check before publishing?
Years, figures and names. Numbers are the likeliest slip when Tagalog speech is transcribed, and a misheard number is translated as misheard. Watching once with the subtitles on is the quickest way to find them.
Where can I use the English subtitles?
Anywhere that takes SRT or VTT: YouTube Studio, Facebook video captions, a video editor or a player such as VLC. Publish the Tagalog track from Original too, so viewers at home and abroad can each choose.
Making English videos as well?
NoteOwl understands English on your Mac, though not Tagalog: it imports MP4 video, transcribes it with unlimited transcription and saves SRT subtitles with each speaker’s name. For Tagalog subtitles of Tagalog speech, use the Tagalog subtitle generator.
FAQ
Questions about English subtitles for Tagalog videos
Is the Tagalog to English video translator free?
Yes. 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes of each, without an account or a watermark. English and Tagalog subtitles are both included.
Does it work for Filipino videos?
Yes. Filipino is based on Tagalog, so videos in Filipino go through this page.
Does it dub the video into English?
No. It writes English subtitles and leaves the video and its Tagalog sound untouched.
What if the speakers switch to English for long stretches?
This page hears the whole video as Tagalog. For one that moves between the two a lot, use the main video translator with Detect automatically.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Your browser takes the sound out on your device; short pieces of it go to a cloud AI transcription service and the Tagalog text to a cloud AI translation service, which discard them. The picture stays with you.
Are speaker names added?
No. The subtitles hold only the spoken words.
