How it works
How do you transcribe Czech audio?
Drop the file in and wait a moment. The recording is split at pauses, each short piece is transcribed as Czech, and paragraphs fill in with their start times. When the last one appears, copy the Czech transcript or download it.
- 1
Choose a recording
A voice message from WhatsApp or Messenger, a recorded přednáška, an M4A interview or an MP4 video.
- 2
Read it as it arrives
Each paragraph has its start time. Files are transcribed up to 30 minutes.
- 3
Save it
Copy the text, or download TXT, Word, SRT or VTT.
Does it write háčky, čárky and ů?
Yes. Our Czech test transcript used ě, š, č, ř, ž, the long vowels and ů throughout, as in “největším”, “přibližně”, “kůra” and “vůbec”, and every piece came back with capitals and punctuation.
Quotation marks are the exception: no „…“ appeared, and brackets were dropped, so “80 km (50 mil)” came back as “80 km 50 mil”. Add them back while you proofread.
Why check i and y in a Czech transcript?
Because they sound the same, and the right one depends on grammar the audio can’t show. Past-tense endings follow the subject’s gender, and our test got them wrong in both directions: “mohli” became “mohly”, and “převládaly” became “převládali”.
Read every past-tense verb whose subject is plural; it takes a minute and catches the slips a Czech reader notices first.
How are numbers written in Czech?
In Czech style, mostly as digits: a space between thousands, a decimal comma, and a full stop after ordinals. Clock times used a dot, and some numbers stayed in words.
- Six thousand of 330,000
- In the transcript“6 000 lidí z celého počtu 330 000”
- Wi-Fi frequencies
- In the transcript“2,4 GHz i 5 GHz”
- “dvacátých let”
- In the transcript“20. let”
- A clock time
- In the transcript“ve 23.35”
- “sedmnáct obětí”
- In the transcriptKept in words
| In the recording | In the transcript |
|---|---|
| Six thousand of 330,000 | “6 000 lidí z celého počtu 330 000” |
| Wi-Fi frequencies | “2,4 GHz i 5 GHz” |
| “dvacátých let” | “20. let” |
| A clock time | “ve 23.35” |
| “sedmnáct obětí” | Kept in words |
Which slips can change the meaning?
A lost “ne”. In one sentence of our test both negatives disappeared: “nenacházely” came back as “necházely” and “nebyly přidány” as “byly přidány”, which says the opposite. Search for verbs in statements that matter.
Names
Aerosmith became “Herosmith” and aurora borealis became “Audoliborealis”.
Near misses
“draslík” turned into “dreslík” and “výživu” into “věživu”.
Why set the converter to Czech?
Because Slovak is close enough that a short Czech piece can be taken for it when the language is guessed, and then spelled the Slovak way. Fixed to Czech, every piece keeps Czech spelling, with ř and ě rather than Slovak forms.
Our tests used standard Czech read aloud. Everyday Common Czech, with forms such as dobrej for dobrý, and strong Moravian accents may come out differently, so try a short clip first. For a recording that changes language for long stretches, use the main audio to text converter.
Transcribing Czech meetings every week?
Do it on your Mac with NoteOwl, which understands Czech among the languages it transcribes there. It transcribes Czech recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps every conversation searchable, without uploading the audio; its dictation is free.
FAQ
Questions about Czech audio to text
Is the Czech converter free?
Yes. Daily, you can transcribe 3 Czech recordings, each for up to 30 minutes, with no account; all download formats are included.
Will Slovak speakers be transcribed correctly?
This page writes everything as Czech. For a recording in Slovak, use NoteOwl’s converter set to Slovak, or the main converter, which detects the language of each piece.
Is my Czech recording stored?
No. Short pieces of the sound are sent over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes and deletes them. NoteOwl keeps neither the recording nor the text.
Can I make Czech subtitles?
Yes. Download SRT or VTT once the transcript is ready; each subtitle has its start and end time and keeps háčky and čárky.
How accurate is the Czech transcript?
Clear speech comes back nearly word for word with its diacritics. Check i and y in past-tense endings, any “ne” that matters, and names.
