How it works
How do you translate English subtitles into Czech?
Drop the English SRT or VTT here; the page translates into Czech. Runs of consecutive subtitles are translated together, then each Czech line is put back at the time of the line it replaces. Read the Czech, then download it in the format you need.
- 1
Add your subtitles
An .srt or .vtt in English or another language; the page detects which, or set it under From.
- 2
Translate into Czech
Sentences that run over two subtitles are translated as one, and each half stays in its own subtitle.
- 3
Download the titulky
Czech SRT or VTT, or a bilingual SRT with the original line over the Czech.
Do Czech subtitles need less room than English?
Often, yes. In our test Czech came out a little shorter than the English it translated. “The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.” needs two English lines, while “Schůzka se koná 16. října 2026 v 15:30.” fits on one.
Every translation is laid out again for lines of about 42 characters, so shorter Czech often leaves a subtitle with a single line where the English had two. The times never move.
- The meeting is on October / 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
- Czech subtitleSchůzka se koná 16. října 2026 v 15:30.
- The price went up by / 6.5 percent to $1,250.
- Czech subtitleCena vzrostla o 6,5 procent na 1 250 $.
- Our doctor said she would / call back tomorrow.
- Czech subtitleNaše doktorka říkala, / že zítra zavolá zpět.

Will the Czech subtitles use vy or ty?
Vy, throughout our test, even for the casual “you know”: “No, víte, je to docela velká věc.” Questions came back as “Můžete…?”. That fits films, courses and company videos; for a relaxed vlog, switch to ty forms such as “víš” and “Můžeš”.
How are dates and prices written in Czech subtitles?
The Czech way: “16. října 2026 v 15:30”, with a full stop after the day, the month in the genitive and the 24-hour clock; “1 250 $”, with a space in the thousands and the dollar sign after. Decimals take a comma: “6,5 procent”.
Does Czech keep a woman as a woman?
In our test, yes. “Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow” became “Naše doktorka říkala”, with the feminine noun, pronoun and verb all agreeing. With no clue, “The teachers were tired” took the masculine plural “Učitelé byli… unavení”.
How well does English translate into Czech here?
Well. Across fifty English test sentences, translation into Czech scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with, and every batch is checked so that untranslated English isn’t passed off as Czech. Read names and figures before publishing.
Making subtitles from Czech recordings as well?
NoteOwl understands Czech on your Mac: it transcribes Czech recordings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and saves SRT subtitles with their names. For Czech subtitles of Czech speech, straight from a video in your browser, use the Czech subtitle generator.
FAQ
Czech subtitle translation: your questions
Is translating subtitles into Czech free?
Yes. Translate 3 subtitle files a day into Czech, each up to 30,000 characters of text, without an account or a watermark.
Can I turn Slovak subtitles into Czech?
Yes. Choose Slovak under From, or let the page detect it. The text goes straight into Czech without passing through English.
Will the Czech titulky stay in sync?
Yes. Each subtitle keeps its number and its exact start and end time, and none is added, merged or dropped, so the Czech file plays in step with the video.
Can viewers see English and Czech at once?
Download the bilingual SRT: every subtitle shows the original line with the Czech one below it, which suits language learners and checking the work.
What will the Czech file be called?
Your file’s name with the code cs added, so Episode 2.srt becomes Episode 2.cs.srt.
Is my subtitle file uploaded?
Your browser opens the file. Only the subtitles’ text is sent, a batch at a time and over a secure connection, to a cloud AI translation service, which translates it and discards it. NoteOwl stores nothing.
