How it works
How do you transcribe Dutch audio?
Drop the file in the box. The page reads it, breaks it into short pieces at the pauses and has each piece transcribed as Dutch, so the text appears paragraph by paragraph with its times. When it’s done, copy it or save it.
- 1
Open the file
A spraakmemo from your phone, a WhatsApp voice message, a recorded lecture or an MP4 from a Teams call.
- 2
Let the Dutch text build up
Each paragraph shows the moment it starts. The converter covers the first 30 minutes of a file.
- 3
Save your transcript
Plain text, Word, or SRT and VTT subtitles in Dutch.
Does it get Dutch spelling right?
For everyday words, yes. In our test the transcript kept the trema in “officiële”, “efficiënte” and “geëmigreerde”, the accents in “één”, the apostrophe in “zo’n” and the polite “u”, and punctuated every sentence.
The words to watch are verb forms that sound the same. Dutch past tenses often differ by a letter you can’t hear, so read the verbs in a Dutch transcript before sending it: in our test “crashte” came back as “crasht” and “uitstierven” as “uitsterven”.
What happens to Dutch compound words?
Some are split in two. Dutch writes compounds as one word, but the transcript wrote “Falkland eilanden”, “continuum model” and “M16 geweer” where the standard spelling is Falklandeilanden, continuümmodel and M16-geweer. Shorter everyday compounds were mostly right.

Can it transcribe Flemish and Surinamese Dutch?
Yes, as Dutch: the page has a single Dutch setting, and the Netherlands, Flanders and Suriname share one standard spelling. Our tests used recordings from the Netherlands; for a strong West Flemish or Limburg accent, try a short clip first.
Recordings that switch between Dutch and English for whole stretches, common in Dutch workplaces, are better on the main audio to text converter, which identifies the language of each piece. A short English term inside a Dutch sentence is simply written in: “Wild Card” came back as “wildcard”.
Why fix the converter to Dutch?
Because Dutch sits between German and English, and Afrikaans is close too. A short or soft piece can be read as a neighbour when the language is guessed. With Dutch fixed, every piece comes back in Dutch spelling from start to finish.

FAQ
Questions about Dutch audio to text
Does the Dutch converter cost anything?
No. Transcribe 3 files a day of up to 30 minutes each, without signing up, and download them in any format.
Are numbers written as words or digits?
It varies. In our test “een tot drie” and “dertig” came back as 1, 3 and 30, while “tien agenten” and “vijf keer” stayed in words. Large numbers used a dot, as in 10.000.
Will it write Flemish words correctly?
Standard Dutch words are spelled the same in Flanders and the Netherlands, so most of a Flemish recording needs no change. Regional words and a heavy dialect are where to check, and we tested with speakers from the Netherlands.
Is my Dutch recording saved?
No. The browser sends short pieces of sound over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service that transcribes and discards them. NoteOwl saves no audio and no text.
Can it make Dutch subtitles?
Yes. Download the finished transcript as SRT or VTT and add it to your video; every line carries a start and end time.
Which mistakes are most common in Dutch?
Verb endings you can’t hear (d or t, present or past), compounds written as two words, and names: in our test Rolando became “Ronaldo” and GBP became “GPP”.
