How it works

How do you translate English subtitles into Slovenian?

Add the SRT or VTT file; the page is set to translate into Slovenian. Press Translate and the subtitles’ text goes out in batches, so each line is read beside its neighbours, then returns in Slovenian, placed at each subtitle’s original start and end. Check a few lines and download.

  1. 1

    Add the subtitles

An SRT or VTT in English, German, Croatian or another listed language; its language is detected for you.

  2. 2

    Translate into Slovenian

Only the words change; numbers and times are copied from your file.

  3. 3

    Download the Slovenian

An SRT named like Predavanje.sl.srt, a VTT, or a bilingual SRT.

How do times and dates look in Slovenian subtitles?

“October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.” came back as “16. oktobra 2026 ob 15.30”: the day first, the 24-hour clock, and a full stop between hours and minutes, as Slovenian writes it. Prices took a decimal comma and a thousands point: “6,5 odstotka na 1.250 dolarjev”.

The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.

Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez will lead the session.

Is the Slovenian formal or informal?

Formal. Every line of our test used vi: “Ali mi lahko pošljete poročilo pred petkom?”, “No, veste…”, “Prosim, sedite, gospod.” For a channel that talks to viewers as friends, change the verbs to ti, such as pošlješ and veš, in the downloaded file.

Does the Slovenian keep “she” and the dual?

It did in our test. “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Naša zdravnica je rekla”, the woman kept, and two people leading a session took the dual, the form Slovenian keeps for pairs: “bosta vodila”, not the plural “bodo vodili”.

A mixed group takes the masculine plural, as Slovenian grammar does: “Učitelji so bili utrujeni po izletu.” Slovenian also puts a comma before “da” (“je rekla, da bo…”), and the translation did.

Will Slovenian subtitles fit the original timing?

Yes, as a rule. In our test, Slovenian ran about as long as the English it replaced. Each subtitle keeps its time and is laid out again in at most 2 lines; a long one gets fuller lines rather than a third line or an extra subtitle.

Lines break between words, and the layout avoids ending a line on a one-letter word such as “v”, “z”, “s” or “k”, which belongs with the word after it.

Slovenian recordings to subtitle as well?

Slovenian is among the languages NoteOwl understands on a Mac: it transcribes Slovenian recordings with unlimited transcription, recognises each speaker and saves SRT subtitles with their names. For subtitles straight from Slovenian speech in a video, use the Slovenian subtitle generator.

FAQ

Slovenian subtitle translation: questions

Is translating subtitles to Slovenian free?

Yes. You can translate 3 subtitle files a day, up to 30,000 characters of text in each, with no account and no watermark.

How good is the translation into Slovenian?

In our test of 50 sentences, translation from English into Slovenian scored above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Formality and names are the things to look over before publishing.

Do the Slovenian subtitles stay in sync?

Yes. The start and end time and the number of every subtitle come straight from your file, so the Slovenian appears exactly where the original line did.

Can I show the original above the Slovenian?

Yes. The bilingual SRT puts the original line above the Slovenian one in each subtitle, which helps learners of Slovenian and anyone proofreading the translation.

Does it handle the letters č, š and ž?

Yes. The Slovenian is saved as UTF-8 text, so č, š and ž display correctly in players, editors and YouTube.

Is my subtitle file stored anywhere?

No. Your browser reads it and sends only the subtitle text, a batch at a time, to a cloud AI translation service, which translates it and discards it. NoteOwl keeps neither the file nor the translation.
