How it works
How do you transcribe Thai audio?
Add the recording to the converter. It is cut where the speaker pauses, each short piece is written in Thai, and the paragraphs appear one after another with their start times. Copy the Thai transcript or download it when it finishes.
- 1
Choose the audio
A LINE voice message, a lecture recorded on your phone, an MP3 podcast or the sound of a video.
- 2
Let it write in Thai
Paragraphs arrive with their times. Each file is transcribed up to 30 minutes.
- 3
Save the text
Copy it, or download TXT, Word, SRT or VTT.
How does Thai look in the transcript?
Like Thai print, with words running together and spaces only between phrases. In our test the transcript used fewer of those phrase spaces than the printed text, so some sentences ran into the next, and it wrote ๆ joined to its word, as in “ใหม่ๆ”.
Thai has no full stop, and none appeared. If your document puts a space before ๆ, as the printed text in our test did, or needs clearer sentence breaks, plan a quick pass with the audio playing.
Does it use Thai or Arabic numerals?
Arabic numerals, every time; no Thai digits appeared. Numbers said as words usually became digits, and units were written in full rather than abbreviated.
That last row is the one to remember: read every figure against the audio before you use it.
- “หนึ่งถึงสามตัว”
- In the transcript“1 ถึง 3 ตัว”
- “ห้านาที”
- In the transcript“5 นาที”
- Seventy kilometres
- In the transcript“70 กิโลเมตร”, not “70 กม.”
- A fiscal year, 2005
- In the transcriptMisheard as “ประมาณ 2,500 บาท”

What happens to English words in a Thai recording?
Some stay in Latin letters and some are written in Thai. In our test “Scaffolding”, “King George” and “Aerosmith” came back in English spelling, while the name Danielle Lantagne was written in Thai script as “แจเนียล ลึง”.
For a recording with long passages in English, the main audio to text converter is the better choice: it identifies the language of each piece, so English parts come back in English.
Which mistakes should you look for in Thai?
Tone marks, look-alike consonants and long words. In our test “ปารีส” (Paris) began with บ instead of ป, “อบอุ่น” got the wrong tone mark, and “บรรพบุรุษ” came back garbled; one sentence was also written twice.
Does it understand Isan, northern or southern Thai?
The page treats every variety as Thai, with one setting for all of them. Our tests used standard Thai read aloud; Isan, northern and southern speech have their own words and tones, so try a short clip of your speakers first.
Need Thai meetings written up on your Mac?
NoteOwl understands Thai among the languages it transcribes on your Mac. It transcribes Thai recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps every conversation searchable, without uploading anything; its dictation is free.
FAQ
Questions about Thai audio to text
Is the Thai converter free?
Yes, with no sign-up: the daily allowance is 3 Thai recordings, each transcribed for up to 30 minutes, and every download format is included.
Why set the converter to Thai?
So the language is never guessed and every piece comes back in Thai script, even a short reply such as ครับ or ค่ะ. With the language fixed, nothing is mislabelled as Lao or another neighbour.
Will Thai subtitles display correctly?
Yes. SRT and VTT files are saved as UTF-8, so Thai script and tone marks show up in YouTube and video editors. Long lines without spaces may need splitting before you publish.
Does NoteOwl keep my Thai recording?
No. Short pieces of the sound are sent over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes them and keeps nothing. NoteOwl stores neither the audio nor the text.
How accurate is the Thai transcript?
A clear recording comes back readable and mostly right. Tone marks, similar consonants and numbers are the usual slips, so read figures and names against the audio before you use them.
