How it works
How do you transcribe Slovak audio?
Drop the file onto the converter. It splits the recording at pauses, transcribes each short piece as Slovak and shows the paragraphs with their start times as they come in. When it stops, copy the Slovak transcript or download it.
- 1
Choose a recording
A voice message from WhatsApp or Messenger, a recorded prednáška, an M4A interview or the sound of an MP4.
- 2
Watch the text come in
Each paragraph carries its time. Up to 30 minutes of every file are transcribed.
- 3
Export
Copy it, or save TXT, Word, SRT or VTT.
Does it write ä, ô, ľ and the other Slovak letters?
Yes. Our Slovak test transcript used ä, ô, ĺ, ľ, ď, ť, ň and the long vowels in words such as “najväčším”, “dôležitosti”, “stĺpcovému” and “zďaleka”, and punctuated every sentence.
Where it slipped, it was usually a single mark: “korisť” lost its ť and became “korist”, “poľných” became “polných”, and “úzkych” gained a long ý. These are quick to fix once you know to look for them.
Why set the converter to Slovak and not Czech?
Because the two languages are so close that a short piece can easily be taken for Czech when the language is guessed, and then come back in Czech spelling. Fixed to Slovak, the transcript keeps Slovak forms, almost without exception.
Even so, our test turned up two Czech-looking forms: “Večina” for “Väčšina” and “celosviatovo” for “celosvetovo”. In a recording with Czech speakers in it, use the main audio to text converter, which identifies the language of each piece.
How are numbers and hours written in Slovak?
As digits in Slovak style: ordinals with a full stop, hours as ordinals, and a space before the % sign. Some numbers stayed in words, as “deviatich členov” did.
- “devätnásti príslušníci”
- In the transcript“19 príslušníci”
- “v treťom storočí”
- In the transcript“v 3. storočí”
- Between 10 and 11 p.m.
- In the transcript“medzi 22. až 23. hodinou”
- Twenty per cent
- In the transcriptThe figure, a space, then the % sign
- “päťnásobne silnejšie”
- In the transcript“5x silnejšie”
| In the recording | In the transcript |
|---|---|
| “devätnásti príslušníci” | “19 príslušníci” |
| “v treťom storočí” | “v 3. storočí” |
| Between 10 and 11 p.m. | “medzi 22. až 23. hodinou” |
| Twenty per cent | The figure, a space, then the % sign |
| “päťnásobne silnejšie” | “5x silnejšie” |
What should you check in a Slovak transcript?
Endings that sound alike. Slovak pronounces a final v like u, and in our test “svorky levov” and “vlkov” came back as “levou” and “vlkou”. The ie in “niekoľkých” was also shortened to “nekoľkých”.
-ov or -ou
Search for words ending in -ou that should be genitive plurals in -ov.
Soft signs
ľ, ď and ť are the marks most often lost; “počesť” came back as “počest”.
Names
Aerosmith became “Erosmíc” and Martelly became “Marteli”.
Does it understand eastern and western Slovak dialects?
It treats every dialect as Slovak, as the page has a single setting. Our tests used standard Slovak read aloud; East Slovak speech in particular has its own words and stress, so try a short clip first.
Can you keep Slovak meetings searchable on a Mac?
Yes. NoteOwl understands Slovak on your Mac and transcribes Slovak recordings and meetings with unlimited transcription. It labels each speaker, keeps every conversation searchable and uploads nothing; its free dictation types Slovak into any app.
FAQ
Questions about Slovak audio to text
Is the Slovak converter free?
Yes, without registration. Transcribe up to 3 Slovak recordings a day, 30 minutes of each at most; every download format is included.
Will it mix Czech into a Slovak transcript?
Rarely. The page is set to Slovak, and in our test only two words came back in Czech-looking forms. Give words that should contain ä, ô or ie a second look, since those are distinctly Slovak.
Does it use Slovak quotation marks?
No. Our test transcript had no „…“ quotes and no brackets; quoted phrases simply ran on in the sentence. Add them back where a quote matters.
Is my recording saved anywhere?
No. Only short pieces of the sound are sent, over a secure connection, to a cloud AI transcription service that transcribes and deletes them. NoteOwl stores neither the audio nor the text.
Can I make Slovak subtitles?
Yes. Download SRT or VTT once the transcript is complete; every line has its start and end time and keeps the Slovak letters.
