- 2
Transcribed and translated
English text first, then Estonian. Up to 30 minutes of each recording.
- 3
Save the Estonian transcript
Copy it or download text or Word; Original switches to the English.
What does the Estonian transcript contain?
The recording in Estonian paragraphs, each headed by the time it was spoken. The Word version opens with the length and “Translated: English → Estonian”. The English transcript keeps the same times, so any Estonian sentence can be matched to the original words.
Is gender a problem when English becomes Estonian?
No. Estonian has no grammatical gender, and “he” and “she” are both “ta”: “Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow” became “Meie arst ütles, et ta helistab homme tagasi.” Nothing has to be guessed, which removes a common source of slips.
- Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow.
- EstonianMeie arst ütles, et ta helistab homme tagasi.
- The teachers were tired after the trip.
- EstonianÕpetajad olid pärast reisi väsinud.
- Thank you all for coming today.
- EstonianAitäh kõigile, et täna tulite.
- Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal.
- EstonianNoh, tead küll, see on üsna suur asi.
| English | Estonian |

| Our doctor said she would call back tomorrow. | Meie arst ütles, et ta helistab homme tagasi. |
| The teachers were tired after the trip. | Õpetajad olid pärast reisi väsinud. |
| Thank you all for coming today. | Aitäh kõigile, et täna tulite. |
| Well, you know, it’s kind of a big deal. | Noh, tead küll, see on üsna suur asi. |
How formal does the Estonian sound?
It follows the English. A group is thanked in the plural (“Aitäh kõigile, et täna tulite”), but the casual “you know” became the familiar “tead küll”. For a transcript of a formal interview, look for sina forms addressed to one person and decide whether teie fits better.
How do you find names in an Estonian transcript?
Search for the start of the name. Estonian adds case endings to names in running text, as in “Raonici vastu” (against Raonic) in our Estonian test sentences, so “Patel” may appear as “Pateliga” or “Patelile”. Names themselves keep the English transcript’s spelling.
How well does English translate into Estonian?
Well. In our test of 50 sentences, translation from English into Estonian scored just under the dedicated translation system we compared it with, within the margin we set, and came out a little shorter than the English. Read key sentences against the English before quoting.

Is the English to Estonian audio translator free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no account. You get the Estonian, the English transcript and every download.
Can I download the Estonian as a Word document?
Yes. The Word file lists the recording’s name, its length and “Translated: English → Estonian”, then the Estonian paragraphs, with times or without.
Does it make an Estonian voice-over?
No. The Estonian is written: a transcript, a Word file or subtitles. Nothing is spoken.
What if the recording switches between English and Estonian?

No. It has words and times only. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.
Is my recording sent anywhere?
In short pieces of sound, to a cloud AI transcription service, and then as English text to a cloud AI translation service. Each discards what it was sent; NoteOwl keeps no audio and no text.
