How it works

How do you put Greek subtitles on an English video?

To translate an English video to Greek, drop it on the page. The sound is transcribed in English, every line is translated into Greek, and the Greek is set out as subtitles at the moments the English is spoken. Download the Greek SRT and add it to your video.

  1. 1

    Add the English video

MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM. The picture stays on your computer; only the sound is read.

  2. 2

    Greek subtitles are made

Transcribed in English, translated into Greek, then timed. Up to 30 minutes per video.

  3. 3

    Download them

Greek SRT or VTT, or the English subtitles from Original.

Do Greek subtitles need more space than English?

Slightly. Greek ran about a tenth longer than English in our test, so the Greek is laid out on its own terms: at most 2 lines of about 42 characters, each subtitle on screen long enough to read at about 17 characters a second.

Because the Greek is cut into subtitles after it is translated, its subtitles needn’t pair off one for one with the English ones. Each still starts when the English words are spoken.

What does a question look like in Greek subtitles?

It ends with the Greek question mark, the same shape as an English semicolon: “Can you send me the report before Friday?” became “Μπορείτε να μου στείλετε την αναφορά πριν από τις Παρασκευή;”. Exclamations keep the familiar mark: “Ουάου! Είναι απίστευτο!”

Leave those marks as they are; Greek viewers read “;” as a question. One small thing to correct in that line: Greek says “πριν από την Παρασκευή”, with “την”.

How do prices and times appear in Greek subtitles?

Decimal commas, full stops between thousands and the day before the month. The time kept the 12-hour clock with μ.μ., the Greek “p.m.”; if your viewers expect 15:30, change it in the file.

The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.
Greek subtitleΗ τιμή αυξήθηκε κατά 6,5 τοις εκατό στα 1.250 δολάρια.
The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
Greek subtitleΗ συνάντηση είναι στις 16 Οκτωβρίου 2026, στις 3:30 μ.μ.

Do English names change in Greek subtitles?

No, they stay in Latin letters and gain a Greek article: “Dr. Patel and Maria Lopez will lead the session” became “Ο Δρ. Patel και η Maria Lopez θα ηγηθούν της συνεδρίας”. Greek viewers are used to seeing foreign names this way.

In our test, translation from English into Greek scored just under the dedicated translation system we compared it with, within the margin we set.

FAQ

Questions about Greek subtitles for English videos

Is the English to Greek video translator free?

Yes. Translate 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account and no watermark. Greek SRT and VTT and the English subtitles are included.

Will it dub my video in Greek?

No. It makes Greek subtitle files and leaves the video and its English sound unchanged. Upload the SRT with the video, or burn it in with an editor.

Do the subtitles address viewers formally?

Mostly. The polite plural forms came back in our test, which suits tutorials and company videos; one line used the familiar form. For a casual channel, edit the lines that should sound closer.

How do I add Greek subtitles to a YouTube video?

In YouTube Studio, go to Subtitles, choose the video, add Greek as a language and upload the SRT file with timing. Viewers can then pick Greek in the subtitle menu.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your browser takes the sound out of the video; short pieces of it go to a cloud AI transcription service and the English text to a cloud AI translation service, which discard it. The picture is never sent.

Can I get the English subtitles as well?

Yes. Switch to Original and download the English SRT, timed the same way, so English and Greek viewers can each choose.
