How does French speech read in English?
Noticeably shorter and still faithful. Across our French test recording, the English used about a sixth fewer characters than the French transcript, and our test rated the English made from French speech strong.

Why might a name look wrong in the English?
Because it was misheard first. The French is transcribed before it is translated, and a name the transcript misspells stays misspelled: in our test recording, the racing driver Fisichella was heard as “Fitella”, and the English kept it. Check names against the recording.
Does the English ever follow the French too closely?
Now and then. “Le groupe” came back as “the group” where an English writer would say “the band”, and “une salle comble” as “a packed hall” rather than “a sold-out crowd”. Such lines are clear, just less idiomatic; reword them when you quote.
What happens to vous and tu in English?
Both become “you”, so the moment two people move from vous to tu disappears in the English. If that change matters to your notes, as it can in an interview, look at the French transcript at that point.

Is my recording stored?
No. Your browser keeps the file and sends short pieces of its sound to a cloud AI transcription service, then the French text to a cloud AI translation service; both discard it after replying. NoteOwl stores nothing.
