How it works

How do you translate a Turkish recording into English?

To translate Turkish audio to English, drop the recording here; the page listens for Turkish and writes English. The speech is transcribed in Turkish first, then each line is translated, keeping its time. Read the English, and switch to the Turkish whenever you want the original words.

  1. 1

    Add the Turkish recording

A voice message from family, a supplier call, a lecture: MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG.

  2. 2

    Turkish, then English

Written down as Turkish, then translated. Up to 30 minutes per recording.

  3. 3

    Read or save

Copy the English or save it as text or Word; the Turkish transcript downloads on its own.

What do you get from a Turkish recording?

An English transcript in paragraphs, each with the time it was said, ready to copy or save as a Word document. Behind it sits the Turkish transcript with the same times, so any English sentence can be traced back to the Turkish words.

Why does the English say “he” when the speaker never did?

Because Turkish doesn’t have to. A Turkish verb shows who acted but not whether it was a man or a woman, and English needs a pronoun. “Kısa bir süre öncesinde Brisbane Açık'ta Raonic'e mağlup olmuştu” came back as “He had been defeated by Raonic…”.

In a real conversation the lines around a sentence usually settle who is meant, which is why the transcript is translated in batches rather than one sentence at a time. When it matters, check the line against the recording at its time.

What happens to the endings Turkish adds to names?

They drop away. Turkish hangs case endings on names after an apostrophe, and English doesn’t, so the translation keeps the name and loses the ending. Abbreviations switch too: the Turkish “km/s” for kilometres an hour came back as “km/h”.

How well does Turkish speech come through in English?

Well. In our test, Turkish speech was transcribed cleanly and the English made from it rated good. The English reads as natural sentences rather than Turkish word order. A word the transcript misheard, though, is translated as misheard, so check names and figures you plan to quote.

Do you work with Turkish recordings every week?

NoteOwl understands Turkish on your Mac (see the languages): it transcribes Turkish recordings and calls with unlimited transcription, labels each speaker and keeps every conversation searchable. For a Turkish transcript without translation, use Turkish audio to text.

FAQ

Questions about translating Turkish audio into English

Is the Turkish to English audio translator free?

Yes. Up to 3 recordings a day, each as long as 30 minutes, with no sign-up. The English, the Turkish transcript and every download are included.

Can I translate a Turkish WhatsApp voice message?

Yes. Export or save the voice message as a file, usually OPUS or OGG, and drop it on the page. A message of a minute or two comes back in English quickly.

Do I also get the Turkish transcript?

Yes. Switch the result to Original to read the Turkish, and save it as text or SRT. Its times match the English line for line.

What if the speakers mix Turkish and English?

This page transcribes everything as Turkish. For a recording that moves between the two, use the main audio translator with the spoken language set to Detect automatically.

Does the English say who is speaking?

No. You get words and times without speaker names. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in the transcripts it makes.

Where does my recording go?

It stays in your browser. Short pieces of the sound go to a cloud AI transcription service, then the Turkish text to a cloud AI translation service; both discard what they receive. NoteOwl keeps no audio and no text.
