This Ukrainian subtitle generator writes субтитри for a video spoken in Ukrainian: і, ї and є in place, the apostrophe kept inside words such as здоров'я, every subtitle timed to the speaker and saved as SRT or VTT.

How it works
How do you make Ukrainian subtitles for a video?
Drop the video on the page. Its sound is transcribed as Ukrainian, a short piece at a time, and the words are turned into subtitles of one or two lines that appear with the speech. Check them in the preview and download SRT or VTT.
- 1
Add a video
A лекція, a news piece, an interview or a clip from your phone; the audio on its own works too.
- 2
Check the субтитри
Each one shows its number, start, end and text. Videos are subtitled up to the first 30 minutes.
- 3
Download
SRT for YouTube or video software, VTT for a player on a website.
Why set the subtitles to Ukrainian?
So that Ukrainian is spelled as Ukrainian. Russian shares most of its letters, and a short stretch whose language is guessed can come back with Russian spelling, и for і or е for є. Set to Ukrainian, every subtitle keeps і, ї, є and the apostrophe.
For a video in which people switch between Ukrainian and Russian or English for long stretches, the main subtitle generator is the right tool: it detects the language of each stretch.
How do the apostrophe and dashes look in Ukrainian subtitles?
The apostrophe stays inside its word as a straight mark, as in здоров'я and комп'ютера, which is what Netflix’s Ukrainian guide asks for. Dashes between words came back as a short spaced dash (–), as in “Європа – континент відносно невеликий,”.
The same guide puts a longer dash (—) between words and keeps the short one for ranges such as “1–2 дні”, so swap the dash in the file if you follow it.

- The subtitle’s linesохорони здоров'я для лікування / тілесних ушкоджень.

- An ordinal

Why does a Ukrainian subtitle sometimes end on a dash?
Because the generator treats a dash like a comma, as a natural place to pause, so a subtitle may end there. In our test, “Дорожній потік –” stood alone and “це визначення руху окремих водіїв” followed in the next subtitle. Merge such a pair if you’d rather keep the sentence together.
The dash never starts a line, and hyphenated words such as “10-й” and “1889-му” are never split. Netflix’s Ukrainian guide also asks that a line not separate an adjective from its noun or a first name from a surname, worth a glance when you proofread.
How are two speakers shown in Ukrainian subtitles?
With a hyphen and no space before each speaker’s line, in Netflix’s Ukrainian guide, which also allows 42 characters a line and 17 characters a second, the same limits as this page. The web generator writes no speaker hyphens, so add them where two voices share a subtitle.
The guide also wants chevrons for quotations, as our test had in «жук», and large numbers grouped in threes with spaces.

FAQ
Ukrainian subtitles: questions answered
Is the Ukrainian subtitle generator free?
Yes. Subtitle 3 Ukrainian videos a day, each up to 30 minutes long, with no account and no watermark; SRT, VTT and text are all available.
Can it make Ukrainian subtitles for a Russian or English video?
No. It writes the Ukrainian that is spoken and doesn’t translate. Subtitle the video in its own language first, then translate the text of each subtitle and leave the numbers and times as they are.
Will ї and є display properly?
Yes, in any player or editor that reads UTF-8, which is how the files are saved. If you edit a file, save it as UTF-8 again so the Ukrainian letters and the apostrophe stay intact.
Does it mark a change of speaker?
No. Every subtitle holds the spoken words only, with no names or dashes. NoteOwl on a Mac labels the speakers and writes their names into the SRT files it saves.
Is my video uploaded?
The video stays on your device; your browser reads it there. Short pieces of its sound are sent over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service, transcribed and discarded, and NoteOwl stores nothing at all.
