How it works

How do you put Polish subtitles on an English video?

To translate an English video to Polish, drop the file here. The sound is transcribed as English, each line becomes Polish, and the Polish is cut into subtitles that appear while the English is spoken. Download the Polish SRT and add it to your video or channel.

  1. 1

    Choose the English video

MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM. The browser takes out the sound; the picture stays on your device.

  2. 2

    Wait for the Polish

Transcribed in English, translated into Polish, timed. Up to 30 minutes of each video.

  3. 3

    Download the napisy

Polish SRT or VTT; switch to Original for the English subtitles with the same timing.

Will Polish subtitles be longer than the English ones?

A little. Polish ran slightly longer than English in our test, and the Polish is cut into subtitles after it is translated, so their number can differ from the English. Each holds 2 lines of up to 42 characters, paced for 17 characters a second.

Because the Polish follows its own sentences and pauses, its subtitles needn’t line up one for one with the English ones; every one still starts when the matching English words are spoken.

Where do Polish subtitle lines break?

Between words, preferably after a comma, and not right after a one-letter word such as “w”, “z” or “i”, which Polish typesetting keeps with the next word. In a run over 155 lines of Polish, none ended on one.

A typical two-line subtitle from that run: “zaoszczędzić sporo pieniędzy, szczególnie” above “na takich towarach jak alkohol i tytoń.”

Will viewers be addressed as ty or as Państwo?

As ty, mostly. “Can you send me the report before Friday?” came back as “Czy możesz mi wysłać raport przed piątkiem?”, the familiar form, which suits a casual channel. For a training or company video, you may prefer Państwo; change the verbs too.

A line spoken to one man, “Please sit down, sir”, came back as “Proszę usiąść, panie”, which reads stiffly in Polish; “Proszę usiąść” alone is often enough.

How do numbers, dates and times appear in Polish subtitles?

In Polish style: a decimal comma, a space between thousands, the currency code after the amount, and the 24-hour clock. Polish subtitle guides often write times with a full stop, 15.30; the translation used a colon, so change it if you follow that style.

How good are the Polish subtitles?

Strong for a first pass. In our test, translation from English into Polish scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. Watch the video once with the subtitles on to catch names and the ty-or-Państwo choice.

FAQ

Questions about Polish subtitles for English videos

Is the English to Polish video translator free?

Yes. Translate 3 videos a day, up to 30 minutes each, with no account and no watermark. The Polish SRT and VTT and the English subtitles are all included.

Does it add a Polish voice-over?

No. It makes Polish subtitles, not a lektor or a dubbed track, and it leaves your video file as it was.

How do I add Polish subtitles on YouTube?

In YouTube Studio, open Subtitles, pick the video, add Polish as a language and upload the SRT with timing. Polish viewers can then choose it in the player.

Can I burn the Polish subtitles into the picture?

Not on this page, which makes subtitle files only. Import the Polish SRT into a video editor and export the video with the subtitles burned in.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your browser takes the sound out of the video, and only short pieces of it go to a cloud AI transcription service; the English text then goes to a cloud AI translation service. Both discard what they get, and the picture is never sent.

Can I publish the English subtitles too?

Yes. Switch the result to Original and download the English SRT, so English and Polish viewers can each pick their own.
