How it works
How do you make Slovak subtitles for a video?
Drop the video on the page. Its sound is transcribed in Slovak a few seconds at a time, and the words are set out as numbered titulky that appear with the speech. Read them in the preview, then download the SRT or VTT file.
- 1
Add the video
A prednáška, a vlog, a video podcast or a phone clip; the audio file alone works as well.
- 2
Read the titulky
Each subtitle lists its number, start, end and lines. Up to 30 minutes of a video are subtitled.
- 3
Save
SRT for YouTube and video editors, VTT for an online player.
Why set the subtitles to Slovak and not Czech?
Because the two languages are close enough that a short stretch whose language is guessed may be written the Czech way, with ř or ů that Slovak doesn’t use. Set to Slovak, every subtitle keeps Slovak spelling, from ä to ľ.
If speakers switch between Slovak and Czech or English for whole passages, the main subtitle generator is the better choice, as it detects the language of each passage.
How do Slovak letters and numbers look in subtitles?
Our Slovak test used á, í, ý, č, ž, š, ť, ľ, ô, ď, ň, ä and ĺ. Percentages came with a space before %, as Netflix’s Slovak guide asks (“20 % vody”), and the % stays with its number, since a line never starts with such a mark.

What should you check in Slovak subtitles?
Short words at the end of a line. The generator moves one-letter prepositions such as “s” and “v” down to their noun where the line has room; in our test only one long subtitle, “topánky s / podpetkom”, had none. Ordinals stay with what follows.
That takes seconds in a text editor: move the word to the other line and keep each line within the limit. The times don’t change.
What do professional Slovak subtitles look like?
Netflix’s Slovak style guide uses 42 characters a line and 17 characters a second for adults, the same limits as this page, „ ” quotation marks, and a hyphen with a space before each of two speakers: “- Počkaj!” over “- Máš tie dokumenty?”.
It writes hours as “Je 14. hodina.”, the ordinal form our test also produced, and puts a space before currency signs too. Speaker hyphens are yours to add, since the web generator writes the spoken words alone.
Slovak subtitles that name each speaker?
NoteOwl understands Slovak on your Mac: it transcribes Slovak recordings there with unlimited transcription, keeps track of who is speaking and saves SRT subtitles with their names, using on-device AI models. For a transcript rather than subtitles, use Slovak audio to text.
FAQ
Slovak titulky: questions
Is the Slovak subtitle generator free?
Yes. Make subtitles for 3 Slovak videos a day, up to 30 minutes of each, without an account or a watermark; SRT, VTT and text are included.
Can it make Slovak subtitles for an English video?
No. It writes down Slovak speech in Slovak and doesn’t translate. Subtitle the English video in English, translate each subtitle’s text, and keep its number and times exactly as they are.
Will ľ, ĺ and ô display correctly?
Yes, in any player or editor that reads UTF-8, which is how the files are saved. If you edit a file, keep it in UTF-8 so the Slovak letters don’t turn into stray symbols.
Does it mark who is speaking?
No. Each subtitle carries only the spoken words, without names or dashes. NoteOwl on a Mac labels the speakers and writes their names into the SRT files it saves.
Is my video stored anywhere?
No. The browser opens the video on your device; short pieces of its sound are sent over a secure connection to a cloud AI transcription service, which transcribes and discards them. NoteOwl keeps neither the video nor the subtitles.
