How it works
How do you turn a Polish recording into English text?
To translate Polish audio to English, drop the file on this page. It is transcribed as Polish in short pieces, then each line is translated into English and keeps its time. Read the English transcript, and switch to Original whenever you need the Polish wording.
- 1
Drop in the Polish audio
A call with a supplier, a relative’s voice message, a lecture: MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or Opus.
- 2
Polish first, English second
The speech is written down in Polish, then translated in batches. Up to 30 minutes of each recording.
- 3
Copy or save the English
As text or Word; the Polish transcript saves separately with the same times.
Why does the English say “he” when the speaker didn’t?
Polish often drops the subject, and the verb’s ending shows the gender instead. “Ostatnio uległ Raonicowi w Brisbane Open” names nobody, but “uległ” is masculine, so the English became “He recently lost to Raonic at the Brisbane Open”.
A woman would have been “uległa”, and the English would have said “she”. Where a speaker talks about several people, the lines around each sentence help, which is why the transcript is translated in batches rather than line by line on its own.
What happens to names with Polish case endings?
They come back in their plain form. “Raonicowi”, the dative of Raonic, came back as “Raonic”, and “Grand Prix Węgier”, literally the Grand Prix of Hungary, as “Hungarian Grand Prix”. A name misheard in the Polish transcript is translated as misheard, though.
Does the English follow what the speaker actually said?
Yes, and that is the point. One Polish test sentence said a storm was moving south-west, where the English text it was originally made from said north-west; the translation said “southwesterly”, as the Polish did. Judge a line against the recording, not against what you expected.
How well does Polish speech come through in English?
Well. Polish speech was transcribed cleanly in our test, and turning a whole Polish recording into English rated good. Long sentences hold together: a 24-word Polish sentence about Skype came back as one clear English sentence.
- Przedsiębiorstwo ma nadzieję zróżnicować źródła dochodów i osiągnąć popularność na terenach, na których Skype ma mocną pozycję, takich jak Chiny, Europa Wschodnia i Brazylia.
- EnglishThe company hopes to diversify its revenue sources and gain popularity in regions where Skype has a strong presence, such as China, Eastern Europe, and Brazil.
- Piętnaście z tych skał spadło z deszczem meteorytów w lipcu ubiegłego roku.
- EnglishFifteen of those rocks fell with a meteor shower in July last year.

What should you check before quoting the English?
Word choice, units and names. The English can stay close to the Polish words: “został wyrzucony” became “was thrown out”, where an English reporter would write “was sacked”. Before you quote, compare the line with the Polish transcript at the same time.
Literal phrasing
Polish idioms may come back word for word; rephrase in your own English if you’re paraphrasing.
Units
Polish abbreviations become English ones: “165 km/godz.” came back as “165 km/h”.
Names
People and places keep their Latin spelling; unusual names are the likeliest slips in any transcript.

FAQ
Questions about translating Polish audio into English
Is the Polish to English audio translator free?
Yes. 3 recordings a day, each up to 30 minutes, with no sign-up. You get the English, the Polish transcript and all the downloads.
Do I get the Polish transcript too?
Yes. Switch the result to Original to read and save the Polish, with the same times as the English, so any line can be matched to its translation.
Can I save the English as a Word document?
Yes. The Word file opens with the recording’s length, “Translated: Polish → English” and the date, followed by the English paragraphs.
What if the speakers switch to English halfway?
This page transcribes everything as Polish. For a recording that mixes Polish and English, use the main audio translator with the spoken language on Detect automatically.
Does it label who is speaking?
No. The English transcript has the words and times, without names. NoteOwl on a Mac labels each speaker in its transcripts.
Is my Polish recording uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file and sends only short pieces of the sound to a cloud AI transcription service, then the Polish text to a cloud AI translation service; each throws away what it was sent. NoteOwl stores nothing.
