How it works

How do you turn an English SRT into Polish?

Add the English SRT or VTT; this page always translates into Polish. Consecutive subtitles are sent together, and each Polish line goes back into the slot of the line it replaces, with the same number and times. Read it through, then download.

  1. 1

    Choose the subtitle file

An .srt or .vtt from YouTube Studio, an editor or a course platform. Its language is detected, or pick it under From.

  2. 2

    Translate into Polish

Neighbouring subtitles travel together, so a sentence that spans two of them still reads as one Polish sentence.

  3. 3

    Save the Polish version

As SRT or VTT, or as a bilingual SRT with the original line above the Polish one.

Does Polish need more room on screen than English?

Slightly. In our test, Polish ran a little longer than the English it came from. A subtitle’s time can’t stretch, so a longer line fills its two lines a little more; it is never pushed into a third line or an extra subtitle.

Each translation is laid out again for lines of about 42 characters. “Can you send me the report before Friday?” fits on one English line; its Polish, “Czy możesz mi wysłać raport przed piątkiem?”, takes two: “Czy możesz mi wysłać” above “raport przed piątkiem?”.

Will the Polish subtitles say ty or Pan?

Mostly ty. Everyday lines came back informal in our test, such as “Czy możesz…?” and “Cóż, wiesz…”, while “Please sit down, sir” became a stiff “Proszę usiąść, panie”. For a business or formal video, switch the ty forms to Pan, Pani or Państwo.

Polish puts the formal address in the third person (“Czy może Pan…?”), so the verb changes along with the pronoun. Searching the file for “możesz” and “wiesz” finds most of the lines to change.

How do dates, times and prices look in Polish subtitles?

The Polish way: “6,5 procent” with a decimal comma, “1 250 USD” with a space between thousands, and “16 października 2026 r. o 15:30” on the 24-hour clock. A long line can break between the day and the month.

If you’d rather keep “16 października” together, move the number down a line in the downloaded file; the timing stays as it is.

The price went up by 6.5 percent to $1,250.
Polish subtitleCena wzrosła o 6,5 procent do 1 250 USD.
The meeting is on October 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
Polish subtitleSpotkanie odbędzie się 16 / października 2026 r. o 15:30.

Does the Polish keep “she” and titles right?

In our test, yes. “Our doctor said she would call back” became “Nasza lekarka powiedziała”, with the feminine word for doctor, and “Dr. Patel” lost its full stop, as Polish writes “Dr”. A mixed group took the masculine plural: “Nauczyciele byli zmęczeni”.

How well does English translate into Polish here?

Well. Across fifty English test sentences, translation into Polish scored clearly above the dedicated translation system we compared it with. The things worth a look before you publish are the ones above: ty or Pan, names, and how figures are written.

Making subtitles from Polish recordings too?

NoteOwl understands Polish on your Mac: it transcribes Polish interviews, lessons and calls with unlimited transcription and exports SRT subtitles with each speaker’s name. For a Polish video without subtitles yet, start with the Polish subtitle generator in your browser.

FAQ

Polish subtitle translation: common questions

Is it free to translate subtitles into Polish?

Yes. You can translate 3 files a day into Polish, each with up to 30,000 characters of subtitle text, without signing up.

Can I translate Russian or Ukrainian subtitles into Polish?

Yes. Choose the file’s language under From, or leave it on Detect automatically. The subtitles are translated straight into Polish, not through English first.

Will the Polish file stay in sync with the video?

Yes. Each subtitle keeps its number and its start and end time exactly, and none is merged or split, so the Polish plays at the same moments as the original.

Can viewers see the original and the Polish together?

Download the bilingual SRT: every subtitle shows the original line with the Polish line under it. It suits people learning Polish and anyone checking the translation.

What is the Polish file called?

It keeps your file’s name with the code pl added, so Lecture 3.srt comes back as Lecture 3.pl.srt, and the bilingual one as Lecture 3.pl.bilingual.srt.

Is my subtitle file sent anywhere?

The file is opened by your browser. Only the text of the subtitles travels, in batches, over a secure connection to a cloud AI translation service that discards it after translating. NoteOwl keeps neither file.
